THE ODYSSEY

The Odyssey made its first appearance with a short tour in 2017. It was reworked and toured in 2022, with even more Greek stuff than you can shake a stick at!

A hulk of flesh,
Ship tall. Arms reaching to his knees.
Mouth, a gaping universe.
And in the middle of his foolish forehead
One. Single. Eye.
Cyclops!

A one-man performance of The Odyssey; a tale more exciting than excitement itself. Based (very loosely!) on the epic poem by Homer, The Odyssey is the journey of all journeys...

To Hell and back again. Gods and Monsters. A love story that lasts decades.

This is proper Greek stuff (Sex! Swords! Sandals!) with all the boring bits removed!

And even more Greek stuff – including the terrifying Sea God Poseidon, Circe the Sexy Sorceress and the dreaded Siren of the Sea (argghhh!) – will conjure up a mighty storm and keep you on the edge of your seat.

Suitable for adults and accompanied older children (12+)

Script very loosely adapted from various translations by Simon Harvey, David Mynne and some lovely poetry from Anna Maria Murphy
Director: Simon Harvey
Performer: David Mynne

To my ageing eyes this hilarious lunacy is inspired by Michael Bentine’s Potty Time as he paints pictures with words and sounds.

Paul Towers: Scribbler Paul’s Scribbles

It’s a tour de force of skilled physical acting and multiple voices, an object lesson in the ability of a single performer to hold an audience in the palm of his (or her) hand and spin stories round them.
